Have you ever worried to open a can of worms if you ask your client/patient about their sex life or sexuality?
If you answer yes to any of the above this workshop is for you. This is a reflective and process oriented workshop for practitioners from all disciplines. Regardless of your experience level or professional background, this workshop can help you reflect inward.
This is a journey of self-discovery for professionals. Packed with reflective activities, discussions and guest speakers, you are sure to learn something new about yourself or others in this journey.
Overview
This workshop will support the participants to:

Reflect on personal values and beliefs about sexuality, gender, sexual behaviours and identities, and how these beliefs and attitudes impact their professional practice

Explore strategies for identifying and managing unconscious bias

Develop inclusive and safe practice skills to address a range of sexuality related topics with patients/clients

Feel more confident to talk about sex and sexuality with patients/clients within the scope of your role

Who is this course suitable for?
This training is suitable for mental health practitioners as well as medical professionals, psychologist, counsellors, social workers, sexologists, allied health practitioners, nurses, GPs, etc.
Do I need to talk about my own sexuality?
Although participation and active engagement is the basis of this reflective workshop, participants are free to disclose as much or as little as they wish about their own sexuality.
I have a history of sexual trauma. Is this workshop safe for me?
We intend to create a safe space for everyone in this workshop. Anisa Varasteh is a qualified psychotherapist and clinical sexologist. However, this workshop is not group therapy, so if you have experienced traumatic events and are still in crisis or the trauma has a significant impact on your life, this workshop may not be suitable for you and you may benefit from seeing a therapist individually. If you are unsure please contact us and we can explore it further.
Can I claim CPD point for this workshop?
Australian Counselling Association members can claim 10 CPD points after successful completion of an assessment which is available after the live event.
